AAP Claims Poll Body Has Banned Its Lok Sabha Election Campaign Song
New Delhi: On Sunday, AAP asserted that the Election Commission (EC) has enforced a prohibition on the party’s Lok Sabha campaign song, ‘Jail ke jawab mein hum vote denge’, alleging that it portrays the ruling BJP and central investigative agencies in a negative manner.
The poll panel has not yet responded to AAP’s claim. Speaking at a press conference, senior AAP leader Atishi stated, “This is possibly the first instance where the EC has imposed a ban on a party’s campaign song.”
According to Atishi, the Election Commission has expressed concerns that the song portrays the ruling party and investigation agencies in a negative light. However, she clarified, “The song does not explicitly mention the BJP and does not violate the Model Code of Conduct. It includes factual videos and incidents.”

“Ms. Atishi, who also serves as a Delhi government minister, accused the EC of failing to address poll code violations committed by the BJP.”
“If the BJP engages in dictatorship, it’s deemed acceptable. But when someone highlights it, that’s deemed wrong. This indicates a threat to democracy. I urge the EC to address the violations by the BJP and refrain from halting opposition party campaigns,” she stated.
The AAP’s over two-minute campaign song has been penned and sung by MLA Dilip Pandey. The song was released at the party headquarters here on Thursday.
