The party leadership reacted to Modi’s address in Rajasthan, where he claimed that the Congress aimed to redistribute wealth among Muslims.
Congress challenged Prime Minister Narendra Modi
On Sunday, the Congress challenged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to point out a single paragraph in its manifesto where there is any mention of redistributing wealth to the Muslim community.
During a rally in Rajasthan earlier that day, the Prime Minister asserted that the Congress manifesto purportedly included plans to assess the gold possessions of mothers and sisters, gather information on them, and subsequently distribute the said property if the party assumes power.
Mr. Modi further stated that “as the Manmohan Singh government had previously asserted, Muslims have the primary claim to property.”
In a post on X, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge accused the Prime Minister of delivering a “hate speech” after realizing that the INDIA block had emerged victorious in the first round. Mr. Kharge contended that fabricating falsehoods for political gain and leveling unfounded accusations against opponents were the principles of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh-Bharatiya Janata Party coalition that Mr. Modi had adopted.

“The dignity of his post has never been diminished to the extent that Modi ji has done,” added the Congress chief, highlighting what he perceived as a historic low in the conduct of India’s Prime Ministers.
“In order to win one election, you are propagating falsehoods in the guise of Hindu-Muslim rhetoric. I dare the Prime Minister to present any instance where the terms Muslim or Hindu appear in our manifesto. Either acknowledge this challenge or refrain from spreading falsehoods,” asserted Congress leader Pawan Khera in a statement on X.
In response to the Prime Minister’s speech, former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi, in a post on X, asserted that “the Prime Minister’s deceit has sunk to new depths following the setback of the first phase of polling, prompting him to deflect attention from the real concerns of the people.”
“The indications of Congress’s transformative manifesto are beginning to emerge,” Mr. Gandhi added.
