Hyderabad: BRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao criticized the Congress government in Telangana on Saturday, accusing it of failing to fulfill its election promises such as farm loan waivers and allegedly not effectively implementing welfare schemes.
Speaking at a gathering in Mancherial during his ongoing ‘bus yatra’ leading up to the Lok Sabha polls, he highlighted concerns regarding the uninterrupted supply of power, tap water supply, and the ‘Rythu Bandhu’ farmers’ investment support scheme, stating that these hallmark initiatives of his government are not being properly implemented.
KCR alleged that the provision of free travel for women in state-run RTC buses has resulted in scuffles among women onboard, and further claimed that auto drivers are resorting to suicides due to this policy.
He Asked whether the Congress’ promises of a Rs two lakh farm loan waiver, Rs 2,500 for women, and one tola gold for young women at the time of marriage are being fulfilled, to which the gathering responded in the negative.
Rao, also known as KCR, voiced concerns, stating that farmers are not receiving the Minimum Support Price (MSP) and the additional bonus of Rs 500 on MSP for paddy. He added that the procurement of farm produce has also become problematic for them.
He claimed that the Chief Minister has extended invitations to top corporate firms during his visit to Davos. Furthermore, he alleged that the Congress government is conspiring to privatize the state-run mining company Singareni Collieries, which is a major employer in the state.
He criticized the BJP-led government at the Centre, alleging that promises such as ‘depositing Rs 15 lakh in the accounts of the poor’ and programs like ‘beti bachao beti padhao’ and ‘doubling farmers’ income’ have failed to bring about a qualitative change in people’s lives.
