Vijayawada: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday held a massive roadshow in Vijayawada in support of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidates for Andhra Pradesh Assembly and Lok Sabha elections.

Accompanied by Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president N. Chandrababu Naidu and Jana Sena Party (JSP) president Pawan Kalyan in an open-top vehicle, PM Modi was observed waving at the crowd with both hands raised.

Chandrababu Naidu and Pawan Kalyan too responded to people’s cheers with folded hands.

Numerous people gathered on either side of the Bandar Road to welcome the leaders of the NDA alliance.

Some individuals were seen carrying flags of the TDP, BJP, and JSP, as well as placards, in their hands.

Additionally, a group of women walked ahead of the leaders’ vehicle, holding posters of PM Modi.

The roadshow extended for three kilometers from the Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium to the Benz Circle.

Elaborate security arrangements were put in place by the police for the roadshow.

TDP candidate Kesineni Sivanath from the Vijayawada Lok Sabha seat and NDA candidates from seven Assembly segments also took part in the roadshow.

Before arriving in Vijayawada, PM Modi addressed a public meeting of the NDA at Rajampet in the Rayalaseema region.

During his speech, PM Modi stated that the countdown for the YSR Congress Party government has begun. He urged the people to vote for a double engine government to ensure rapid development of the state.

The simultaneous elections for the 175-member Andhra Pradesh Assembly and 25 Lok Sabha seats are scheduled to take place on May 13.

Under the seat-sharing agreement, the TDP is contesting 144 Assembly and 17 Lok Sabha seats.

It has allocated 10 Assembly and six Lok Sabha seats to the BJP, and 21 Assembly and two Lok Sabha seats to the JSP.

After a gap of a decade, the TDP, BJP, and JSP have reunited.

In 2014, the JSP supported the TDP-BJP alliance.

Later, Pawan Kalyan distanced himself from both parties, while the TDP also severed ties with the BJP. In the 2019 elections, the TDP, contesting independently, lost power to the YSR Congress.

Similarly, the BJP, running solo, failed to secure any seats in both the Assembly and Lok Sabha polls.

Meanwhile, the JSP, in coalition with the BSP and the Left parties, only managed to secure one seat.
